Which dog sausage for which dog?
The problem with most dog sausages: grain, sugar, binders and several kinds of meat, often without saying which. With ours, what is left beside 97 % muscle meat is only salt and a natural casing.
- For allergy sufferers: Wuffwurscht Horse, Goat or Duck. Every variety is single protein, so from only one animal species. Very few dogs know goat and horse, which is why almost all of them tolerate it.
- For dogs on a diet: Wuffwurscht Venison with 8.4 % fat is the lightest variety.
- For training: all Wuffwurscht varieties are firm. You cut them into pea sized cubes, a 100 gram piece is enough for 100 to 150 rewards.
- For chewing: beef, tripe or game sausage ends. These are the dried ends of the sausage, firmer than the fresh sausage and an affordable chew snack.
- For fish fans: Cod Kabanos is made only of fish. For dogs that cannot tolerate meat.
- Without meat: daphnia snack sausage made from water fleas, the alternative when every single meat has really been ruled out.
What is the difference between dog sausage and regular sausage?
Sausage from the supermarket is seasoned for humans: salt, pepper, curing salt, often sugar. For dogs that is too much salt and too much seasoning. Dog sausage is unseasoned or only lightly salted, without curing salt, and made from food grade meat tailored to dogs.
How long does dog sausage keep?
Unopened at room temperature for several months, the exact date is on the pack. After opening about a week in the fridge. Diced cubes can be frozen in portions. Dried sausage ends keep for several weeks once opened.
Tripe in the sausage: why does it smell like that?
Green tripe is the unwashed beef stomach with remains of grass and plants. To us the smell is strong, to dogs it is the best argument there is. Tripe provides enzymes and fibre that support digestion. The tripe sausage end is the easiest way to feed tripe without the kitchen smelling of it afterwards.
