Poultry Treats for Dogs: Duck, Goose, Quail, Ostrich

Poultry does not mean chicken here. Chicken is the most common allergy trigger in dogs because it is in almost every food. That is why you will find duck, goose, quail and ostrich here: lean poultry that most dogs have never had, as sausage, soft cubes and dog cigars. Each variety from a single animal species, without grain and additives.

Why no chicken?

Chicken is the most common meat in dog food and therefore the most common allergy trigger. Many dogs that react to chicken still tolerate other poultry, because the proteins differ. For some dogs, however, no poultry works at all. If you are unsure, start with a small amount and watch for two days.

Which poultry for which purpose?

  • Duck: Wuffwurscht Duck as a firm dog sausage for training, Dog Cigars Duck for chewing. Duck is a little fattier than chicken and very aromatic.
  • Goose: soft goose meat cubes, soft enough for seniors and puppies, 99 percent goose.
  • Quail: soft snack with quail and oregano, soft training treats.
  • Ostrich: Dog Cigars Ostrich, very lean and a new protein source for almost all dogs.

Poultry for allergies

Duck, goose and ostrich are new to most dogs and therefore usable in an elimination diet. All products here are single protein, meaning from one animal species. If your dog reacts to all poultry, have a look at horse, fish or game.

How much per day?

No more than ten percent of the daily ration as snacks. Soft cubes and sausage are higher in calories than dried skin, so deduct the amount from the main food when training.
