Besides game meat these sausage ends also contain vegetables and herbs. For an elimination diet or a strict single protein plan they are therefore not suitable, even though game is otherwise considered a rare protein source. What is the difference to the beef sausage ends?
The nutritional values are almost level: 49 % instead of 49.3 % protein, 34.7 % instead of 33.3 % fat. The difference is the taste: game is stronger and for most dogs the more exciting snack. Many customers take both and alternate.
Are they suitable for allergy sufferers?
Only to a limited extent. Game is considered a rarer protein source, but vegetables and herbs are included here too. For an elimination diet they are therefore not suitable, have a look at our single protein snacks instead.
How strongly do the game sausage ends smell?
Stronger than beef, milder than tripe, they sit right in between. Perfectly practical for the treat bag.
How much can my dog have?
As a snack, not as a meal. Rule of thumb: treats should not exceed about 10 % of the daily ration, and at 34.7 % crude fat it is worth reducing the main food accordingly.
What is the consistency of the ends like?
Firm but not rock hard, they break easily with the fingers. They are not meant as a long lasting occupation but as a reward bite.
Why do the ends look so different?
Because they are offcuts, the ends of the sausage pieces left over from portioning. Size, shape and weight therefore vary considerably. That is exactly what makes them attractively priced.
Suitable for puppies and seniors too?
From teething onwards and in small pieces, in principle yes. For seniors with declining bite strength simply break smaller.
How do I store them?
Cool and dry, close the bag well. The best before date is on the packaging.
