Olive Wood for Dogs

Olive wood is the next step up from coffee wood. The olive tree grows slowly, its wood is dense, frays while chewing and does not splinter. Our chew sticks are finished with olive oil, which makes the wood smooth and interesting for dogs. Calorie free, vegan, weeks of chewing.

Olive wood or coffee wood?

Coffee wood is softer and sweeter, the starting point for most dogs. Olive wood is denser and lasts considerably longer at the same size. If your dog takes coffee wood apart within a few days, olive wood is the next step. Harder still are ebony and the chew root.

Is olive wood safe for dogs?

Yes. Olive wood frays while chewing, producing soft fibres, no sharp splinters. The fibres are spat out or digested. As with every chew wood: give under supervision and replace as soon as the piece is so small that it fits into the mouth.

Why with olive oil?

Untreated olive wood is dry and odourless, many dogs ignore it. Soaked with olive oil it becomes smoother, smells interesting to the dog and splinters even less. The oil is food grade.

Which size for my dog?

The chew stick should be longer than the mouth is wide. Small dogs up to 10 kilos take S, medium dogs M, large dogs L. Power chewers one size up.

Olive wood for puppies?

Only after teething. Before that coffee wood in the smallest size is the better choice because it is softer.
