🐗 88 % protein, 4.2 % fat: chewing occupation without the fat

When a dog needs to lose weight, the chew is usually the first thing to go. Whatever keeps a dog busy for a long time is often high in fat, and bully sticks or pig ears are simply out during a diet.

Purwell wild boar skin is the exception: dried skin from wild boar, a natural product made of almost pure connective tissue. That gives 88.2 % crude protein with just 4.2 % crude fat. Your dog gets its chewing session without the daily balance tipping over.

Composition: dried wild boar skin. Nothing else.

📦 What is in the 200 g pack

  • 🐗 100 % dried wild boar skin: a single animal protein, from the wild
  • 🪶 Only 4.2 % crude fat: one of the leanest chews there is
  • 💪 88.2 % crude protein: natural, no artificial additives
  • 🦷 Dental care while chewing: the tough structure cleans mechanically
  • 📏 Pieces of about 15 cm: easy to hold, can be divided if needed
  • 🇪🇺 Made in the EU: no sugar, colourings or flavourings

🐾 Which dogs is wild boar skin suitable for?

  • ✅ Dogs on a diet or with fat restriction: chewing occupation that brings hardly any fat
  • ✅ Food sensitive dogs and allergy sufferers: wild boar is considered a rare protein source
  • ✅ Dogs with an urge to chew: tough enough to keep them busy
  • ✅ Dogs of every size: the pieces can be cut smaller

✨ Why Purwell?

We do not make dog snacks for every dog. We make snacks for the dogs that cannot tolerate anything on the supermarket shelf any more. Single protein, honest ingredients, game from responsible hunting in Europe. No farmed game, no factory farming.

❓ Frequently asked questions

How can skin be so rich in protein?
Because skin consists almost entirely of connective tissue, that is collagen, a structural protein. Drying removes the water, what remains is almost pure protein. It is not a concentrate and not an additive, simply what skin is by nature.

Is wild boar suitable for allergy sufferers?
Yes. It is a pure single protein product without grain, sugar or additives. Wild boar is a rare protein source that very few dogs have had contact with before, a good starting point for elimination diets. Important: wild boar is zoologically related to the domestic pig. With a known pork intolerance it is therefore not the right choice.

How safe is wild boar as a chew?
Wild boar can carry the Aujeszky virus, which is dangerous for dogs. That is why the raw material is dried at over 80 °C, a temperature at which the virus is reliably inactivated. Raw wild boar products, on the other hand, should never be given to your dog.

How long will my dog chew on it?
Considerably longer than on a treat, but it is not a chew bone for the whole afternoon. The skin softens and frays while chewing instead of breaking brittle, which also makes it suitable for more cautious chewers.

Why do the pieces look different?
Because it is a natural product. Size, thickness and colour vary from piece to piece, that is normal variation and not a difference in quality.

What is the difference to roe deer skin?
Both are lean skin chews with a similar profile. The difference is the animal species, practical if you want to switch between protein sources deliberately during an elimination diet.

Does wild boar skin smell strongly?
Much milder than fish or tripe products, with a slight game note. Perfectly acceptable indoors.

How do I store it?
Cool and dry, reseal the pack after taking a piece out. The best before date is stamped on the packaging.
