Who We Are – and Why We Feed Dogs Differently
Sometimes everything starts with a conversation about... catfish. That’s how it happened back in 2018, in a small specialty shop in Schleswig-Holstein. Stefan, a trained pet retailer with a passion for alternative protein sources, was behind the counter. Falko, working as a sales representative for a large company, only wanted to drop by for a minute – but ended up staying much longer. Because it quickly became clear: both shared a passion for dogs and the question of how to feed them better, healthier, and more honestly.
Especially with dogs suffering from intolerances or allergies, both often came across the same problems: too many artificial additives, too little transparency, too many ordinary products. Stefan’s idea was simple: chews that are different. Honest. Gentle on the stomach. And still exciting for dogs.
What began as an idea over a shop counter turned, over the years, into a small but fine range of specialty products in local stores. The response was overwhelming – especially from dog owners who, like us, thought: “My dog deserves better than average.”
That’s how hundekau.de was born in 2022 – as a platform for everyone who shops consciously, values transparency, and sees their dog as part of the family.
What defines us to this day:

- Small in-house brands with character, like “Purwell” or “Hundje Kees”
Our products are created out of genuine conviction – not marketing trends. Many ideas come directly from conversations with customers like Lisa, whose Labrador mix “Milo” finally found something he can both tolerate and love.
